An Apple a Day

When fall arrived (according to the calendar, definitely not the weather in NE Ohio) I made a mental list of things I wanted to do with my littles! At the top of the list was a trip to a real-deal-old-school-apple-orchard! Today we found it! Monroe's Orchard in Hiram, Ohio was just what we were looking for!

We first arrived at 11:00 but soon found out that I didn't read the website enough because apple picking didn't begin until 1:00. So, off to the outlets we went for a little shopping (darn), ducks and lunch! We returned to the orchard right in time to buy our bags and board the wagon ride. I truthfully had no idea how this whole thing worked. Turns out, it's pretty easy. You buy the bags, get on the wagon and it drives you to the orchard. As soon as we sat down on the hay bales M says "Mommy, next time us should wear long pants because this stuff hurts my legs." Well kid, if it wasn't 85 degrees outside on October 6 we would have most defiantly been dressed in our super cute fall outfits. Instead, we look like we are ready for a day at the beach!

As soon as we got to the orchard M was thrilled. He RAN full speed to the trees screaming, "Look, Mommy, Look at all of them apples!" He figured out what to do right away and took his job seriously! He absolutely loved filling up his bag! Baby on the other hand, well, she thought that we were at an all-you-can-eat apple buffet! I tried to throw out every apple that she left teeth marks in but I'm sure I missed a few (#momfail).

Yes, she has a red stain on her dress. Thanks M for giving her a red skittle!

My favorite picture of the day! Worth every penny!

Today was a huge success in my book. M learned way more about apples by actually being at the orchard. He was comparing apples, pumpkin, strawberries and raspberries on our drive home (they had them all here). "Mommy, apples grow on trees, all the colors and pumpkins and raspberries grow on the vines, they're the same but not the same like the apples and I tell all my friends that at school when I take them their little apples." I just love my boy, and the way he thinks!

And then there is Baby.  Somehow, at the end of our adventures she always seems to be wayyyyyy O-V-E-R it! Rest up little lady, there are LOTS more to come!!!

Weekday fall fun SCORE!

Anyone who knows me knows 2 things to be true about our weekends...
1. If it's camp season, you know where to find me!
2. If it's not camp season, you know I don't leave my house on Saturday or Sunday!
So, with that said, I was M A J O R L Y excited to find a pumpkin farm that was open during the week!!! One of the perks of being a SAHM is being able to do fun things with my littles during the week when places are less crowded. So this morning we packed up and headed on the drive to Amish country in Hartville, Ohio to Kingsway Pumpkin Farm and had a blast! This place had it all! A wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin, animals to feed, a corn box, slides, a zip line, a train ride, a maze, a fire truck to climb on with a slide and concession stands! The weather wasn't the greatest today but at least it wasn't raining or snowing! Here is a photo flood of the fun we had! :)

A Visit to Wagon Trails

Over the weekend it hit me that the summer is OVER...it's the end of September! There won't likely be many more outdoor adventures. That's when I realized that we never went to see the animals this summer and thought we needed to get it in this week! Well, today was the (COLD) day! Here's a look at some of the fun we had!
Martino 3 1/2, Claire 4, Aliviana 18M, Cole 2 1/2

She was keeping her distance!

I said "Go see the goats!"

Right before it bit his finger!

She likes animals in cages!

Running to see the camel! Favorite picture from the day! <3

These are the moments that make it worth it! <3

Martino had a great time feeding the animals! This was the first year he actually did it all by himself! There were tears when he ran out of food, of course, but all in all he did awesome! The baby on the other hand, well..... can you say #deathgrip!!!?? She was NOT into the big animals out on the wagon. She kept saying "bite, no, bite, no, bite" over and over and over! Poor thing. I asked her before her nap if she liked the animals today to which she quickly said "nooooooo." Well, maybe SHE will do better NEXT year too!

Happy Fall!

FUNday Friday!

I have officially declared every Friday from now until the snow melts 'FUNday Fridays!' We usually leave for camp bright and early every Friday morning, but since the season is winding down I decided I needed to do something to make our LoNg weekends exciting! So today was my trial day for FUNday #1! Since I hadn't really thought this out in my head (until 7am this morning) I had to just go with what I had available in our house! Thanks to hoarding a lot of crap really good stuff, a recipe book, pinterest and a fun mama on IG I had all the ideas & supplies I needed!

FUNday activity #1: Play-Doh
I know what you are thinking, play-doh isn't that exciting, but for these two it is because it doesn't happen that often. Between the clean up and the amount that goes into the baby's mouth, I usually pretend that we are fresh out of play-doh. Today, we went all in. I gave them the entire bucket of play dough and toys and they played and played for over an hour. Yes, they was a HUGE mess. Yes, the baby ate way more play-doh than she ever should. Yes, they had FUN! I should have taken a picture at the END of the hour, these were taken in the first 5 minutes!

FUNday Activity #2: Fun Food!

Piggy sandwiches for lunch! I picked up a $5 recipe book at Kohl's this summer full of fun kid friendly recipes! Today I was able to find enough "stuff" to make the piggy sandwiches. Martino loved it way more than I would have even thought! I wish I could have taken a picture of his face when he opened his eyes for the surprise lunch! He devoured the entire sandwich! {Potato roll, cheese, turkey bologna, mayonnaise, apple mouth, raisin eyes-- missing black olives cut for hooves}

FUNday Activity #3: Colorful Spaghetti
I saw this idea on the Glitter and Girl  blog and thought it looked liked fun! It was super simple to make and you only need spaghetti and food coloring. I only had thin spaghetti on hand (regular may have worked better) and three colors of food dye, but the little's didn't mind! :) To make the noodles I boiled them, drained them and then laid them on top of a towel on a cookie sheet to dry out for 2 hours. Then I separated them into 3 bowls and added 10ish drops of food coloring and a tablespoon of water to get the color to mix well.

Running to see the FUN surprise!

Not quite sure...

Hmmmmmm....what shall I do?!?

We definitely had a FUN Friday! I hope we have many more this fall & winter!
Thanks for stopping by!
