When fall arrived (according to the calendar, definitely not the weather in NE Ohio) I made a mental list of things I wanted to do with my littles! At the top of the list was a trip to a real-deal-old-school-apple-orchard! Today we found it! Monroe's Orchard in Hiram, Ohio was just what we were looking for!
We first arrived at 11:00 but soon found out that I didn't read the website enough because apple picking didn't begin until 1:00. So, off to the outlets we went for a little shopping (darn), ducks and lunch! We returned to the orchard right in time to buy our bags and board the wagon ride. I truthfully had no idea how this whole thing worked. Turns out, it's pretty easy. You buy the bags, get on the wagon and it drives you to the orchard. As soon as we sat down on the hay bales M says "Mommy, next time us should wear long pants because this stuff hurts my legs." Well kid, if it wasn't 85 degrees outside on October 6 we would have most defiantly been dressed in our super cute fall outfits. Instead, we look like we are ready for a day at the beach!
As soon as we got to the orchard M was thrilled. He RAN full speed to the trees screaming, "Look, Mommy, Look at all of them apples!" He figured out what to do right away and took his job seriously! He absolutely loved filling up his bag! Baby on the other hand, well, she thought that we were at an all-you-can-eat apple buffet! I tried to throw out every apple that she left teeth marks in but I'm sure I missed a few (#momfail).

Yes, she has a red stain on her dress. Thanks M for giving her a red skittle! |

My favorite picture of the day! Worth every penny! |
Today was a huge success in my book. M learned way more about apples by actually being at the orchard. He was comparing apples, pumpkin, strawberries and raspberries on our drive home (they had them all here). "Mommy, apples grow on trees, all the colors and pumpkins and raspberries grow on the vines, they're the same but not the same like the apples and I tell all my friends that at school when I take them their little apples." I just love my boy, and the way he thinks!
